Transportation Department at Georgia State University is seeking a Van Driver to join our team.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Panther Ride Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a Panther Ride van and/or golf carts to provide transportation services for students, faculty, staff, and visitors across GSU campuses and designated shopping areas. This position provides reliable point-to-point transportation while delivering courteous and professional customer service.

The driver is responsible for following established routes, schedules, traffic regulations, and campus transportation procedures while maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all passengers. Duties include assisting passengers with boarding and exiting vehicles, navigating campus roadways and pedestrian areas, communicating with passengers and dispatch personnel, and responding appropriately to changes in transportation needs or operating conditions.

The position requires strong attention to safety, punctuality, dependability, and situational awareness. Drivers are expected to maintain a clean and orderly vehicle, conduct routine vehicle inspections, report maintenance or safety concerns promptly, and ensure that passengers are transported to their designated locations in a timely and professional manner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

* Operates Panther Ride van and/or golf cart to safely and efficiently transport employees, students, visitors, food, supplies, equipment, and other authorized goods between locations throughout the downtown campus. Follows established routes, schedules, traffic regulations, campus transportation policies, and applicable safety procedures to ensure timely and reliable service.

* Performs routine and minor maintenance and upkeep of van and/or golf cart to ensure vehicles remain safe, clean, operational, and ready for daily transportation activities. Completes basic vehicle care in accordance with established departmental procedures and manufacturer recommendations and promptly reports maintenance concerns requiring specialized attention.

* Provides scheduled relief coverage for Customer Service Specialists and related cashier positions across PantherDining locations to ensure uninterrupted dining operations and consistent customer service during employee breaks and other temporary absences.

* Delivers exceptional, professional, and customer-focused service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and colleagues across operations. Represents GSU Transportation in a positive and professional manner by responding promptly to customer needs, addressing questions and concerns courteously, and contributing to a welcoming and efficient environment.

Qualifications :

Minimum Hiring Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED and one year of related experience. Good driving record required. A valid Georgia driver's license is required.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Flexible schedule that includes nights and weekends.
