HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

Georgia State Recreational Services is dedicated to promoting a healthy lifestyle through our exceptional recreational programs, intramural sports, services and facilities. Georgia State University Department of Recreational Services is searching for an outstanding candidate to fill the role of Coordinator, Recreation Center Operations. This position is based at the Downtown Atlanta campus. This position will work some nights and weekends.

Duties:

  • Georgia State University Department of Recreational Services is searching for an outstanding candidate to fill the role of Coordinator, Recreation Center Operations. (Working title: Coordinator, Facilities)

  • Oversees the operation and maintenance of the Student Recreation Center swimming pools (Lap pool, Leisure pool, Spa). This position will manage all aspects of pool safety to ensure county code and university policies are enforced. Work collaboratively with the Aquatics Coordinator. Assist the Aquatics Coordinator with in-service training with lifeguards on chemical testing and pool operations. Manages upkeep of equipment and supplies. Orders and inventories all swimming pool chemicals. Responsible for updating and maintaining swimming pool chemical log data. Assists with risk management issues and serves on the department risk management committee. Responsible for vacuuming pools/spa and assuring pool deck and pool patio are clean and maintained. Oversees the sauna and operation in the Aquatic Center. Ensures all swimming pool equipment is maintained, such as ADA lift chairs, pool vacuums, and pump room operations. This job will require some weekend and evening hours.

  • Assist the Assistant Director of Facilities with the day-to-day management of the recreation department facilities. These facilities include the Student Recreation Center (161,000 sq. foot facility), Indian Creek Recreation property including the Lodge (4,700 sq foot facility), Outpost, supporting offices/storage facilities, event lawn, and Panthersville Recreation Complex which includes two flag football fields, two softball fields, storage garage, deck, and bathrooms. Coordinates with University Facilities (Zone trades staff / Design and Construction), contractors, and vendors to ensure maintenance of stated facilities and equipment.

  • Coordinates with outside contractors to schedule maintenance and repairs at appropriate times. Inventory and control operational supplies and assist in the purchase planning of these items. Coordinates with landscaping vendor on a regular basis for the upkeep of all the recreation properties.

  • Manages internal department facility work requests and follows up with department staff. Collaborates with Coordinator, Indian Creek Recreation Area, Aquatics Coordinator, and Building Services team. Submits and follows up on necessary repairs or facility requests. Assists the Assistant Director of Facilities with facility walk-throughs to develop strategic and preventative maintenance plans. Develop semester and annual reports regarding facilities such as facility

    improvements, preventative maintenance plans, work requests, and equipment purchases. Assist with facility events and reservations when needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Sports Management, or a related field and three years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Hiring Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Recreation, Sports Administration, Hospitality Management or related field and 3-5 years of recreation management experience with an emphasis on park, recreation, and special event facilities, operations, and administration; direct experience with various facets of position duties.
  • Experience in student development (including hiring, training, supervising, scheduling, payroll, and evaluation).
  • Operations experience including aspects of locker, informal recreation, equipment, and security management.
  • Experience with software programs and technology knowledge.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must have CPR and First Aid certifications (or obtained within 3 months of employment)
