Summary:

The Seasonal Registered Nurse, Flex Pool provides adaptable, evidence-based nursing care across multiple inpatient units, including but not limited to medical-surgical, orthopedic, and progressive care settings, delivering safe patient care, performing telemetry monitoring, and ensuring continuity of care while supporting dynamic staffing and patient care needs.

This is a temporary position designed to support our hospital during peak seasonal periods. As such, the Seasonal Registered Nurse (RN) is expected to commit to the full duration of the seasonal contract. Additionally, candidates must be willing to work a specified number of holiday shifts, including but not limited to Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day. This requirement ensures that we can continue to provide exceptional patient care during times of increased demand.

Responsibilities:

* Administers patient care under the direction of a physician. Identifies and pursues expected patient outcomes in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team. Reports and records the plan for care, nursing care given, and the patient's response to that care.

* Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies and procedures.

* Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient/family needs. Consults with appropriate resources in a timely fashion regarding patients with complex care issues, unusual teaching needs and/or those at high risk for discharge planning. Manage care for multiple patients with varying acuity levels, utilizing strong prioritization, organization, and time-management skills

* Collaborates with peers in a clinical operations environment, including fostering intra/interdepartmental communication.

* Synthesizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care, including appropriate physical, psychosocial, education and safety needs. Assesses and anticipates discharge needs of individual patients and families.

* Communicates with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care using cultural competency and active listening. Develops relationships with patients and their families that promote their ability to advocate for patient and family needs. Participates in ongoing professional development and contributes to the clinical growth of peers through education, mentorship, and training.

* Promotes a safe, clean, and secure environment through adherence to standard precautions, infection prevention practices, and safety protocols.

* Maintains competency in all required skills and completes competency assessment annually per the documented competency checklist. Adheres to documented policies and processes as well as performing other related duties as assigned.

* Ability to work onsite with predictable, reliable, and prompt attendance. Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR)

* Supports hospital operations by floating to appropriate units as required by hospital staffing needs.

* Performs the physical and mental requirements outlined in the appropriate section.

Other information:

Education

o Associated Degree in Nursing required

o Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred

Experience

o Minimum of two (2) years of acute care nursing experience required

o Intermediate or Intensive Care experience preferred.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations

o Active Registered Nurse license in the state of North Carolina or a CompactLicense is required

o Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required

o Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification preferred
