Primary Purpose of Department
The Purchasing Office is responsible for the coordination of the purchase of goods, services, and informal construction projects. We ensure all transactions are in compliance with North Carolina statutes, the Administrative Code, and University policies related to procurement.
Primary Purpose of Position
Serve as the purchasing agent for assigned campus departments to coordinate their basic procurement activities. Major departments currently assigned to this position include Business Services (Auxiliary Services, Foodservice, Bookstore, and PaTS), Housing & Residence Life, and the Student Union.
Summary of Position Responsibilities

  • Review and process purchasing requisitions from campus departments
  • Review, negotiate, and edit contracts for the purchase of goods and services
  • Complete state-required documentation as applicable to purchases
  • Interpret and apply state procurement statute, administrative code, and policy to all purchasing activities

Minimum Education/Experience
Four-year degree from an accredited institution; or a two-year degree and at least two years of procurement-related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and procurement-related work experience.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Contract review training or certification
  • Knowledge of public higher education or governmental procurement practices

  • North Carolina Contract Manager
  • CPM

  • CPPB or CPPO
