HJF is seeking a Project Manager II to oversee complex international clinical programs supporting infectious diseases. This clinical project management position will engage across a large contingency of stakeholders and multiple sites with responsibility to ensure timely execution of milestones for the entire lifecycle of the assignments.

This position will be in support of the Global-Infectious Diseases portfolio.

The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike.   • Serve as project lead for assigned studies, managing all timelines, deliverables, and fiscal responsibilities.

  • Serve as primary point of contact with stakeholders including PI, Research Physicians, Project Sponsor including Military leadership, Clinical Operations, Data Coordinating Center and Product Quality groups, as examples.

  • Responsible for operational management of clinical research by applying comprehensive knowledge of clinical development and project management to help lead and develop appropriate project plans, work with the project team to refine plans and establish realistic targets for task completion, develop and implement communications plans, and monitor progress throughout the life of the study.

  • Coordinate operational, administrative and diverse programmatic activities for the Clinical Research Directorate project teams for international clinical studies. Project teams may include research physicians, statisticians, pharmacists, data managers, regulatory specialists, site PI and study teams, clinical and research laboratory experts, research collaborators, human resources, budget analysts, and contracting.

  • Coordinate communications within project team, organizing meetings and developing appropriate agendas, coordinating meeting minutes and their appropriate dissemination, following up on action items with responsible parties.

  • Assess risks to project performance, and independently or in collaboration with study team, develop risk mitigation proposals for consideration by responsible leadership. Implement selected mitigation plans and monitor outcomes.

  • Develop, track and manage project budgets, prepare statements of work and budget justifications for contract requisitions.

  • Serve as the primary liaison with finance and grants management teams for forecasting, financial planning, budget execution, and reporting activities.

  • Review financial reports, monitor expenditures, provide financial analyses and recommendations to leadership and Principal Investigators to support effective financial management and resource allocation.

  • Manage the process for collaboration agreements and liaise with Technology Transfer and Office of Sponsored Programs. Support and participate in planning, creation and submission of proposals and agreements (CRADA, MTA, NDA, Data Use agreements as examples). Other related professional duties as assigned.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in a science related field; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced research environment, and to plan and manage multiple priorities on different timelines.
  • Experience managing multicenter clinical research studies, international collaborations, or global health programs preferred.
  • Ability to incorporate strategic vision of leadership into plans and operations with attention to detail leading to optimized cost, time and performance outcomes. Ability to manage complex issues with multiple partners and stakeholders. Flexibility to handle a variety of tasks and shift priorities as necessary.
  • Excellent organization, time and project management skills with strong interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively interact with local and international external collaborators in a culturally sensitive manner.
  • Ability to work as an effective team member in a virtual environment. High level of initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing, build and maintain teams, and identify and resolve problems.
  • Knowledge of federal budget processes and fundamental principles of project management.
  • Working knowledge of clinical research regulatory processes. Proficiency in standard project management software and budgeting tools, including but not limited to; Smartsheet, REDCap and Oracle and/or other web-based software systems.
  • Experience working within a DoD funded agreement a plus.
  • Experience with International clinical trials including vaccines, therapeutics and/or cohort studies for infectious disease indications preferred.

Work Environment

  • This position is hybrid and may take place primarily in an office setting.

Compensation

  • The annual salary range for this position is $67,500-$90,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
