Weichert Co. is hiring a Real Estate Instructor in Virginia. The Real Estate Instructor is responsible for delivering pre-license, post-license, and continuing education courses to aspiring real estate salespersons and brokers in Virginia. The instructor will lead classroom and/or online training sessions, evaluate student performance, and ensure compliance with the standards set by the Virginia Real Estate Commission. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the delivery of required intellectual material for successful completion of the Virginia pre-licensing courses.
- Prepares and follows lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments. Leads classroom discussions on relevant topics and educates students regarding real estate principles and practices. Ensures that courses include a monitored final exam.
- Evaluates student performance, administers exams, and provides feedback.
- Accurately completes class records to document compliance with state real estate commissions.
- Provides information regarding licensing. Answers any questions students may have.
- Provides a professional and effective learning environment, whether in-person or virtual/distance learning. Keeps a positive learning environment for the participants while always maintaining classroom control.
- Maintains up to date knowledge of Virginia real estate laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Ensures compliance with all record keeping, reporting and certification requirements.
- Promptly communicates with the school office regarding any student issues, schedule changes, or operational concerns that arise during a course, whether conducted in person or virtually.
- Instructors are responsible for completing all requirements for state license renewals, and continuing education to maintain an active instructor license in good standing.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Education, Certification, and License Requirements
- A Bachelors degree, VA brokers' license, and two (2) consecutive years of active real estate experience immediately before application, or
- An active VA brokers' license and five (5) consecutive years of real estate experience immediately before application, or
- A qualified expert in a specific real estate field who will teach only in that area of their expertise. This option requires proof of expertise, including education transcripts, professional certifications, and letters of reference
Experience
- Experience levels are defined by state statutory requirements, outlined in the "Education, Certification, and License Requirements" section
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- In-depth knowledge of national and state-specific real estate principles and practices
- Knowledge necessary to operate Power Point presentations
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficient in hosting Zoom sessions, including managing screen sharing, breakout rooms, whiteboards and participant engagement.
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Ability to conduct presentations
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and fractions
- Knowledge and ability to use typical office equipment (PC, calculator, fax machine, etc.)
The estimated hourly rate for this position is $23 to $34.50. The rate of pay will be based on a sliding scale with student count for each class.
