We are seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join our team working in the following areas: Drainage/Stormwater Management; Erosion and Sediment Control; Hydrology/Hydraulics Modeling/Design; Watershed Studies; and Stream Restoration for various exciting projects throughout RK&K's project portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to lead, manage, and deliver complex projects across RK&K's footprint, assist in the advancement into an identified growth market, and grow into a Discipline Team leadership position.

Essential Functions



  • Develop, evaluate, and design stormwater management facilities to support public works, commercial, industrial, or residential infrastructure projects across RK&K's vast portfolio
  • Operate as a subject matter expert in water resources design and analysis
  • Prepare permit applications for oversight agencies to address the full range of environmental issues and conditions associated with water resources projects
  • Develop project scope, schedule and budgets, lead projects, and manage subcontractors
  • Prepare construction plans, specifications, design reports, technical memoranda, and miscellaneous contract documents
  • Work with other disciplines on creative solutions to design challenges
  • Proactively deliver a wide range of water resource projects including drainage design, flood studies, watershed plans, erosion/sediment control plans, scour analysis, outfall stabilization/ stream restoration plans, and other related projects in accordance with the scope, schedule, and budget set by the project manager.
  • Provide excellent client services with a focus on quality and timeliness.
  • Meet and work directly with other design team members including project manager, project engineers, design technicians, drafters, surveyors, contractors, inspectors, public agency officials, and clients.
  • Develop civil engineering plans using MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads and GIS while applying knowledge of local, state, and federal design standards
  • Provide office and site visit support for projects in construction
  • Develop detailed project analysis and prepare permit applications for oversight agencies to address the full range of environmental issues and conditions associated with water resources projects
  • Lead tasks, plan budgets, manage subcontractors


Required Education, Skills and Experience



  • BS. in Civil / Environmental Engineering or similar field
  • 8-12 years of experience in a similar role - civil water resources or transportation engineering
  • Pennsylvania PE or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire
  • Experience with MicroStation/AutoCAD and GIS
  • Candidates will work in a diverse and challenging environment and must:

    • Be capable of working on and coordinating simultaneous tasks,
    • Have ability to coordinate technical matters with public and private entities, and
    • Be capable and willing to provide in-house staff augmentation services to local public-sector clients at their facilities on a part-time or full-time basis.




Preferred Skills and Experience



  • Experience with Microstation OpenRoads
  • Experience with HEC-RAS modelling software.
  • Pennsylvania experience
