THE POSITION

The Mail Production Operator with the Department of Transportation plays a key role in keeping important materials moving across the Commonwealth. This role offers a chance to work with specialized equipment while contributing to services that help communities every day. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role focuses on operating mail production equipment and keeping materials organized as they move through the workflow. You help maintain accuracy, efficiency, and safety across the process. As a Mail Production Operator, you will perform the following duties:

  • Machine Programming: Program machinery during daily start up procedures
  • Equipment Operation: Operate Bell & Howell Aims equipment to process assigned output
  • Material Loading: Load equipment with required forms, inserts, card stock, envelopes, and related materials
  • Quality Verification: Read reports and check completed work to ensure accuracy and proper orientation
  • Basic Repairs: Perform minor adjustments and repairs to maintain equipment function
  • Mail Transport: Load completed mail onto carts and transport it to designated areas within processing

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment

  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.

  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Mail Production Assistant (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or

  • One year of clerical experience; or

  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
