Job Description

Job Function Summary:

Involves providing administrative oversight to a number of clinical services departments (medical, diagnostic and therapeutic, inpatient and outpatient) within the organization. Administrative oversight includes developing objectives and policies, reviewing organization's budget, evaluating performance of departments under direction as well as performance of key management personnel, and evaluating requests for new or additional services or programs. Activities also include contributing to strategic planning and directing all activities of clinical professional services departments through subordinate management staff.

Spends the majority of time (50% or more) achieving organizational objectives through the coordinated achievements of subordinate staff. Establishes departmental goals and objectives, functions with autonomy. Manages the accountability and stewardship of human, financial, and often physical resources in compliance with departmental and organizational goals and objectives. Ensures subordinate supervisors and professionals adhere to defined internal controls. Manages systems and procedures to protect departmental assets.

The Orthotic and Prosthetic Clinical Manager provides clinical and operational leadership for assigned clinic location(s), patient populations, and/or specialty service lines within the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. In addition to maintaining an advanced clinical practice, the Clincal Manager is responsible for overseeing the delivery of safe, high-quality, and efficient orthotic and prosthetic services while ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory, accreditation, and departmental standards.

The Clinical Manager is accountable for monitoring clinical quality, patient safety, operational performance, and financial outcomes within their assigned area(s) of responsibility. The position identifies opportunities to improve patient access, clinical workflows, operational efficiency, and revenue performance through process improvement, business development, referral relationship management, and implementation of departmental initiatives.

The Clinical Manager provides day-to-day leadership for assigned clinical staff by overseeing performance, supporting professional development, optimizing staffing and resource utilization, and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. As a member of the Orthotics & Prosthetics leadership team, the Clinical Manager participates in divisional planning and serves as a local leader responsible for communicating and implementing departmental priorities, operational changes, and quality improvement initiatives.

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is responsible for the department's academic, teaching, patient care professional services and research activities under the UCSF School of Medicine. The department has over 400 academic and staff personnel at multiple sites (UC, Mt. Zion, MB, SFGH, and VAMC). The Orthotic and Prosthetic Department provides joint patient care with numerous services across the UCSF health care system.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Req / Pref 3-5 years' experience working as a Certified Orthotist and/or Prosthetist Req Past Management Experience Pref Ability to work independently and successfully in the treatment of complex orthotic/prosthetic cases Req Ability to meet the physical demands of the Key Responsibilities listed above Req Ability to document clearly and accurately in accord with CMS standards Req Ability to create informative educational presentations Pref Past teaching experience in the O&P profession Pref Past research experience in the O&P profession Pref English Language Skills Req Fluent in another language Pref Education, Licenses and Certifications: List Education, Licenses and Certifications a candidate must possess or meet to be considered for the position.
