POSITION OVERVIEW

The Glazing Fabrication Shop Foreman is the day-to-day leader of the fabrication floor and is accountable for safety, people, production, quality, material flow, equipment readiness, and shop organization. This hands-on leadership role coordinates closely with project management, field operations, purchasing, and logistics to ensure fabricated glazing systems are delivered accurately, efficiently, and in sequence with project installation needs.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and supervise daily activities of glazing fabrication personnel; establish clear priorities, expectations, and accountability.
  • Plan daily and weekly fabrication activities based on project schedules, required-on-site dates, manpower, and material availability.
  • Conduct production and safety huddles and communicate workload, constraints, priorities, and performance expectations.
  • Coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and identify schedule, material, manpower, or equipment issues before they impact the field.
  • Partner with Project Managers, Superintendents, purchasing, warehouse, and logistics teams to maintain reliable production flow.
  • Train and mentor employees while building a professional, team-oriented, high-performance shop culture.


FABRICATION & QUALITY LEADERSHIP

  • Provide technical oversight for storefront, curtain wall, interior framing, entrances, doors, and related architectural aluminum systems.
  • Oversee cutting, machining, routing, drilling, notching, assembly, gasketing, sealant application, hardware preparation, and packaging.
  • Ensure fabrication is performed in accordance with approved shop drawings, fabrication tickets, cut lists, project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and approved dimensions.
  • Establish quality-control checkpoints throughout fabrication; verify dimensions, machining, assembly, labeling, and completed work before shipment.
  • Drive reduction of fabrication errors, material waste, rework, damage, and field modifications through disciplined processes and corrective action.



PRODUCTION, MATERIAL & LOGISTICS

  • Maintain clear visibility into shop workload, fabrication status, upcoming work, and production capacity.
  • Coordinate receiving, inspection, staging, storage, fabrication, packaging, loading, and shipment of project materials.
  • Ensure aluminum, glass, doors, hardware, gaskets, sealants, and accessories are protected, organized, and staged by project and installation sequence.
  • Promptly identify and communicate damaged, incorrect, or missing materials and help drive resolution.
  • Coordinate completed material releases to support field installation schedules and minimize unnecessary handling.


SAFETY, EQUIPMENT & FACILITY

  • Lead a strong safety culture, enforce company policies and PPE requirements, and immediately correct unsafe conditions.
  • Ensure employees are trained and authorized to safely operate fabrication equipment, forklifts, material-handling equipment, and shop tools.
  • Oversee proper use and readiness of saws, CNC equipment, routers, drill presses, punches, crimping equipment, glass-handling equipment, compressors, and related tools.
  • Support preventative maintenance, equipment repairs, housekeeping, storage standards, and an organized professional facility.


CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

  • Evaluate production throughput, labor efficiency, material flow, equipment utilization, shop layout, sequencing, waste, rework, and packaging methods.
  • Develop repeatable fabrication standards and best practices that improve safety, quality, productivity, and consistency.
  • Work with Operations leadership to establish measurable shop goals and track performance against those expectations.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of commercial glass and glazing experience preferred.
  • Previous glazing fabrication shop leadership, foreman, lead fabricator, or superintendent experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of commercial storefront, curtain wall, entrances, doors, and architectural aluminum systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, glazing shop drawings, fabrication drawings, cut lists, and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of measurements, tolerances, fabrication requirements, quality control, and safe shop operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, planning, organization, problem-solving, and employee-development skills.
  • Basic computer skills and willingness to utilize digital production tracking and project-management tools.
