Job Description

The Support Systems Administrator (Entry) supports a highly specialized academic and clinical dental environment with an emphasis on advanced graphics, 3D dental imaging, digital dentistry systems, and rapidly evolving instructional technology. This role requires strong technical competency, curiosity, and a willingness to explore, test, and support emerging technologies in a production setting. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment where experimentation, calculated risk-taking, and adaptability are essential.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktop and workstation computers, including high-performance systems used for 3D imaging, dental CAD/CAM, and advanced graphics workflows, including 3D scanners, mills, and associated dental fabrication technologies.
  • Install, maintain, and support printers, scanners, and peripherals, including output devices used for dental imaging and fabrication.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot Audio/Visual equipment in classrooms, clinics, simulation labs, and conference rooms.
  • Provide onsite classroom and clinical technology support, including real-time troubleshooting during instruction, exams, and demonstrations.
  • Provide first-line in-person, telephone, and remote support for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Support users via remote support tools (e.g., Bomgar) for both instructional and clinical systems.
  • Install, configure, update, and support desktop and specialized dental software, including imaging, exam, and instructional platforms.
  • Ensure systems meet security, stability, and availability requirements in coordination with campus IT and compliance guidelines.
  • Create, manage, and troubleshoot user accounts and groups for dental systems such as Axium, MiPACS, and related clinical applications.
  • Assist with management and administration of on-boarding of new students, faculty and staff including assignment and renovation of resources, access and credentialling.
  • Support instructors, students, and staff with ExamSoft and other assessment platforms.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Support special projects related to simulation labs, digital dentistry, and emerging teaching technologies.
  • Assist with integration between dental systems, imaging platforms, and campus infrastructure.
  • Assist with lifecycle planning for hardware and software in rapidly changing technical environments.
  • Support and maintain research computers and specialized devices, including non-standard hardware and faculty-built systems.
  • Participate in planning, testing, and roll-out of new instructional, clinical, and imaging technologies.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and support workflows for continuity and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with faculty, researchers, vendors, and campus IT teams on technology pilots and proof-of-concept projects.
  • Troubleshoot complex or unusual technical issues where no predefined solution exists.
  • Provide informal training and guidance for faculty, students, and staff on effective use of supported technologies.
Shift

8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday through Friday

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience with or strong interest in 3D imaging, modeling, scanning, or visualization technologies.
  • Familiarity with advanced graphics, GPUs, and performance tuning.
  • Strong experience with Windows desktop and workstation environments.
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, file shares, and permissions.
  • Experience supporting A/V systems, including projectors, displays, cameras, and control systems.
  • Comfort troubleshooting hardware, drivers, firmware, and software interactions.
  • High technical competence with the confidence to explore unfamiliar systems.
  • A "builder" mindset-someone who enjoys assembling, modifying, and optimizing hardware.
  • Comfortable taking calculated risks to solve problems or test new solutions.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment with shifting priorities.
  • Curious, adventurous, and willing to learn by doing.
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Communicates effectively with both technical and non-technical users.
  • Works well independently and as part of a collaborative support team.
  • Maintains a service-oriented mindset in a teaching, clinical, and research setting.
  • Have a driver's license, cell phone with data, and be able to lift 40 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to dental imaging systems, medical imaging, or specialized clinical software is highly desirable.
  • Experience supporting exam or instructional platforms (e.g., ExamSoft) is beneficial.
  • A good understanding of scripting, including PowerShell, Batch, Bash
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or 4+ years of similar work experience
  • Experience working in Higher Education, Dental, or similar environment
Anticipated Hiring Range

The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $53,000 - $58,000 annually.

Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
