| Essential Job Duties |
As the Social Media Advisor: Student-Generated Content, you will play a key role in shaping how current and prospective students experience NC State University through authentic, student-created social media content. This position leads the Student Creator Program, empowering a talented group of students to develop engaging content that brings the undergraduate and graduate student experience to life across NC State's social media channels, with a focus on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.
In this role you will also recruit, coach and manage up to 10 student social media creators. The position provides creative direction, develops content strategies and helps student creators translate their experiences into compelling stories that strengthen awareness of and connection to NC State.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and continuously enhance the Student Creator Program, establishing creative direction, content priorities and processes that support the university's social media goals.
- Recruit, onboard, advise and manage two to three student editors and up to 10 student social media creators.
- Coach student creators in developing engaging, student-first content that authentically reflects academic, campus and student experiences.
- Brainstorm and develop content concepts tailored to TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and emerging social media trends.
- Review and optimize student-generated content to ensure it aligns with university brand standards, platform best practices and audience interests.
- Monitor social media performance and prepare analytics reports that identify trends, measure results and inform content decisions.
- Collaborate across a large, complex organization to coordinate content opportunities and strengthen the reach and effectiveness of student-generated storytelling.
- Serve as a member of the Social Media Strategy Hub leadership team and collaborate closely with campus partners, particularly Enrollment Management and Services and Admissions, to integrate student-generated content into broader university social media and enrollment strategies.
In this role you will be able to combine creativity and excellent communication skills, with the ability to coach and develop student creators. This role is ideal for a collaborative social media professional who enjoys turning ideas into compelling content, using analytics to guide strategy and helping students tell stories that showcase the NC State experience.

Qualifications
| Minimum Experience/Education |
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
| Preferred Qualifications |
- Professional knowledge of marketing, communications, or public relations principles to develop and execute organic social media content that strengthens audience engagement and supports organizational goals.
- Experience developing engaging, audience-focused social media content that aligns with established brand standards, strategic messaging, editorial priorities and platform best practices.
- Experience managing social media projects, content schedules and competing priorities while using performance metrics and audience insights to evaluate content effectiveness and inform editorial and brand strategies.
- Efficiency with use of social media management, scheduling and analytics platforms, such as Hootsuite, to plan, publish, monitor and evaluate content and translate performance data into actionable recommendations.
- Background in student supervision and support by providing effective guidance, oversight and feedback to undergraduate and/or graduate students, including assigning work, establishing expectations and supporting successful completion of projects.
