Responsibilities
The Subsidiary Director of Quality Assurance provides leadership for quality assurance, standardization, process improvement, training, and operational consistency initiatives throughout the subsidiary. This position collaborates with operational leaders, technical professionals, corporate stakeholders, and cross-functional committees to develop, implement, monitor, and improve quality systems and business processes. The Subsidiary Director of Quality Assurance is responsible for strengthening organizational effectiveness, promoting standardization, supporting continuous improvement, and ensuring services are delivered in accordance with ECS quality standards and operational expectations. Responsibilities Quality Assurance Leadership
- Leads and manages the subsidiary quality assurance program to ensure services are delivered in accordance with ECS policies, procedures, and quality standards
- Develops and maintains quality assurance objectives that support organizational goals and operational excellence
- Establishes quality assurance strategies, programs, processes, and performance measures across the subsidiary
- Partners with corporate and subsidiary leadership to support quality objectives, standardization efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Promotes a culture of quality, accountability, consistency, and operational excellence throughout the organization
- Serves as a quality assurance subject matter expert and trusted advisor to subsidiary leadership
Standardization & Process Improvement
- Establishes and maintains standardized templates, processes, procedures, and documentation across service lines and operational functions
- Develops repeatable and predictable operational processes that improve consistency, efficiency, and quality outcomes
- Evaluates existing business processes and identifies opportunities for improvement, simplification, and standardization
- Analyzes operational data, trends, and performance indicators to support decision-making and process enhancements
- Recommends and implements improvements that strengthen quality, reliability, efficiency, and client service
- Collaborates with committees, technical teams, and operational leaders to support implementation of company-wide initiatives
- Reviews industry developments, technical publications, and best practices to identify opportunities for organizational improvement
Training & Organizational Development
- Develops, coordinates, and supports subsidiary-wide quality-related training programs and educational initiatives
- Supports implementation and communication of company programs, processes, standards, and operational changes
- Collaborates with company committees and leadership teams to facilitate adoption of new initiatives and process improvements
- Creates training materials, guidance documents, communication resources, and implementation tools
- Promotes knowledge sharing, best practices, and organizational learning throughout the subsidiary
- Supports onboarding, professional development, and technical competency initiatives related to quality and operational excellence
Audit & Compliance Management
- Plans, manages, and coordinates a subsidiary-wide quality audit program
- Conducts audits of operational offices, construction materials testing functions, laboratories, and related service areas
- Evaluates compliance with ECS quality standards, policies, procedures, and operational requirements
- Documents audit findings and develops recommendations for corrective and preventive actions
- Monitors implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions and improvement initiatives
- Supports preparation for internal, external, client, regulatory, and accreditation audits
- Identifies risks, compliance concerns, and opportunities to improve operational consistency and quality outcomes
Operational Support & Performance Improvement
- Provides technical and operational guidance related to quality systems, procedures, and process implementation
- Supports system users by responding to questions, troubleshooting concerns, and providing training on quality-related tools and systems
- Analyzes operational issues and recommends practical solutions that improve performance and service delivery
- Reviews technical and operational processes and advises leadership regarding process effectiveness and opportunities for improvement
- Confers with field and office personnel regarding application of quality procedures, standards, and tools
- Investigates customer concerns related to quality and supports development of effective resolutions when needed
- Confirms personnel are appropriately trained, supervised, and equipped to perform required services and procedures
- Promotes continuous quality monitoring and improvement throughout project execution and service delivery
Strategic Leadership & Collaboration
- Partners with operational leaders, technical professionals, committees, and corporate stakeholders to advance organizational objectives
- Supports development and implementation of subsidiary policies, procedures, goals, and strategic initiatives
- Provides leadership and direction regarding organizational standardization and quality-related priorities
- Evaluates subsidiary performance and develops recommendations that improve reliability, consistency, and operational effectiveness
- Supports business planning, budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation related to quality initiatives
- Serves as a liaison between subsidiary personnel and corporate quality assurance leadership
- May support strategic projects, regional accounts, national accounts, and key client initiatives
- May assist with recruiting, hiring, training, mentoring, and performance management activities
- May participate in business development, proposal preparation, report development, and client support activities
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- 10 years of related experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering preferred
- If driving for, or on behalf of, any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required
- Advanced knowledge of quality assurance systems, process improvement methodologies, and operational excellence principles
- Strong understanding of construction materials testing operations, laboratory procedures, and quality control practices
- Demonstrated technical expertise, leadership, professionalism, and commitment to quality
- Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to evaluate operational performance and implement effective quality improvement initiatives
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop actionable recommendations
- Strong auditing, compliance, and process evaluation capabilities
- Effective verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences
- Ability to influence organizational change and drive adoption of new processes and standards
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment with minimal supervision
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams, committees, and organizational initiatives
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic business environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and business management systems
