Job Description
JOB OVERVIEW The Material Handler plays a critical role in supporting warehouse operations by ensuring the efficient movement, storage, and staging of materials. This position is responsible for receiving, unloading, transporting, picking, staging, loading, and putting away raw materials and finished goods to support production and customer service requirements. By maintaining material flow throughout the facility, the Material Handler helps ensure operational efficiency, inventory integrity, and on-time delivery performance. The position performs routine warehouse tasks, including operating material handling equipment, replenishing production areas, verifying material identification and quantities, and maintaining organized storage locations. Additional responsibilities include supporting shipping and receiving activities, completing required documentation and system transactions, and assisting with general warehouse housekeeping. The Material Handler is expected to follow all safety policies and procedures and may flex to various warehouse work areas based on operational needs and business demands. ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Material Handling: Pick, stage, load, unload, transport, and store raw materials and finished goods using established procedures and warehouse equipment while maintaining location accuracy.
- Shipping & Receiving Support: Assist with receiving incoming materials, verifying shipment, preparing outgoing orders, and ensuring materials are properly identified and documented.
- Put Away & Replenishment: Perform put-away and replenishment activities to ensure production and warehouse areas have the materials needed to meet operational requirements.
- Order Picking & Staging: Accurately pick and stage materials for production and customer shipments while meeting productivity and quality expectations.
- Inventory Accuracy: Verify material quantities, lot numbers, and location information during material movements and report discrepancies to the Warehouse Lead.
- Documentation & Systems: Complete required paperwork and accurately enter material transactions into warehouse and inventory management systems according to established procedures.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment in accordance with training and company policies.
- Safety & 5S: Adhere to all safety policies, PPE requirements, and housekeeping standards; maintain a clean and organized work environment and promptly report hazards, incidents, or equipment concerns.
- Team Support: Collaborate with warehouse/shipping/receiving, and production personnel to ensure efficient material flow and achievement of operational goals.
- Flexible Operations Support: Perform additional warehouse-related duties as assigned and support other work areas based on business and operational needs.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3-6 months warehouse/shipping/receiving experience; forklift/lift-truck operator preferred
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/BEHAVIOURS
- Knowledge:
- Warehouse operations, material handling procedures, shipping and receiving processes, inventory management basics, forklift and material handling equipment operation, and safety and 5S standards.
- Skills:
- Safe and efficient material movement, forklift operation, order picking and staging, accurate documentation, basic computer and data entry skills, effective communication, and basic math skills.
- Abilities:
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive physical tasks; operate material handling equipment; work in a fast-paced environment; prioritize tasks based on operational needs; and maintain accuracy while handling materials.

OTHER INFORMATION
- Physical Demands:
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Regular operation of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
- Occasional climbing, stretching, and working in elevated storage areas as required.
- Work Environment:
- Exposure to loud noise, moving mechanical equipment, forklift traffic, vibration, and warehouse production activity.
- May work in varying temperature conditions, including indoor and outdoor environments during loading, unloading, and material transfer activities.
- Exposure to dust, airborne particles, and changing weather conditions when working at shipping and receiving docks.

- Time Pressures: Meeting production support requirements, shipment schedules, and material delivery deadlines while maintaining safety and accuracy.
- Attention to Detail: Maintaining accuracy in material identification, quantities, locations, and documentation.
