Microsoft Dynamics AX / D365 Subject Matter Expert (SME) Contract/Contract to Hire/Direct Hire Addison, TX (Hybrid) Overview We are preparing for a company-wide ERP transformation with the implementation of Microsoft Dynamics 365, scheduled to begin in Q1. We are seeking an experienced Microsoft Dynamics AX / Dynamics 365 Subject Matter Expert (SME) to serve as the organization's internal ERP expert and key liaison with our implementation partner. This individual will play a critical role throughout the ERP migration, advocating for business needs, ensuring system decisions align with operational requirements, and helping drive a successful implementation. Following the project, this person will continue to support, optimize, and enhance the ERP environment as a long-term member of the team. We are looking for someone committed to seeing the project through to completion while helping the business prepare for a successful go-live and future growth. Key Responsibilities Business Process Analysis & Requirements Gathering Lead workshops and discovery sessions with stakeholders across the organization to understand current business processes and future-state requirements. Translate business needs into functional ERP requirements and collaborate with implementation partners on solution design. Conduct fit-gap analyses to identify process improvements, configuration requirements, and areas requiring customization. ERP Configuration & Solution Design Partner with implementation consultants to configure and optimize Dynamics 365 modules, including areas such as: General Ledger Accounts Payable Accounts Receivable Fixed Assets Inventory Management Warehouse Management Procurement and Supply Chain Ensure configurations align with business objectives and industry best practices. ERP Governance & Business Advocacy Serve as the primary internal advocate during the implementation, representing business priorities and ensuring vendor recommendations align with organizational goals. Evaluate solution options and provide recommendations that balance operational needs, system functionality, scalability, and long-term sustainability. Drive process standardization and continuous improvement initiatives. Testing & Quality Assurance Develop and coordinate System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) strategies. Validate business processes, system functionality, integrations, reporting, and data accuracy. Manage issue resolution and support readiness activities prior to deployment. Data Migration & Validation Partner with business and technical teams to map legacy data into Dynamics 365. Support data cleansing, validation, reconciliation, and migration activities. Ensure data integrity throughout testing and production cutover phases. Security & Compliance Collaborate with IT and project teams to design and maintain security roles, permissions, and access controls. Ensure appropriate segregation of duties and adherence to internal governance and compliance requirements. Training, Adoption & Change Management Create and maintain end-user training materials, procedures, and documentation. Facilitate user training sessions and support organizational change management efforts. Serve as a trusted resource for users before, during, and after implementation. Post-Go-Live Support & Continuous Improvement Act as the primary business SME for Dynamics 365 following implementation. Partner with leadership and end users to identify enhancement opportunities, system optimizations, and future functionality improvements. Support ongoing ERP maintenance, upgrades, and business process improvements. Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX and/or Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (F&O). Proven experience supporting or leading ERP implementations, upgrades, or migrations. Strong understanding of finance, accounting, supply chain, inventory, warehouse, and operational business processes. Experience partnering with third-party ERP implementation consultants and system integrators. Strong requirements gathering, business analysis, testing, and documentation skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities. Ability to bridge the gap between business users and technical teams. Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Accounting, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is more than a Dynamics expert.
