The Role:

As the Executive Director/Ministry Chief Philanthropy Officer, you'll be at the helm of driving transformative philanthropic efforts for both St. Peter Hospital and Centralia Hospital. Reporting to the South Puget Sound Chief Executive, you'll be pivotal in crafting and executing a strategic philanthropic vision. As an influential member of the Executive Leadership Team, you'll partner with the Chief Executive and the Foundation Board of Directors to elevate our ministry's Foundation to new heights. Your leadership will guide and engage the Foundation Board, energize the philanthropy team, and foster a culture of collaboration across divisional teams to amplify fundraising impact.

What You'll Do:



  • Board Leadership Maestro: Inspire and lead the Foundation Board of Directors with a compelling vision, ensuring they are empowered with an effective structure to achieve extraordinary philanthropic goals. Optimize board members' contributions to maximize impact.
  • Team Champion: Build and nurture a powerhouse Foundation team. Lead recruitment, training, and performance evaluations to cultivate a robust team that excels in fundraising strategies, fostering an environment of growth and achievement.
  • Strategic Visionary: As a forward-thinking strategist, develop and implement comprehensive strategic and annual operating plans that propel the Foundation towards achieving its ambitious goals. Mobilize teams to execute plans and deliver remarkable results.
  • Relationship Builder Extraordinaire: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with major gift prospects and existing donors, ensuring sustained engagement and support for our mission.
  • Philanthropic Architect: Design and execute innovative philanthropic plans, including capital campaigns, endowment management, annual giving, major gift solicitations, fundraising events, and planned giving programs, all aimed at fulfilling our ministry's mission.
  • Community Ambassador: Serve as a respected ambassador within the communities we serve, nurturing professional ties with organizations that influence our operations. Maintain transparent communication with Providence executives and staff.
  • Collaborative Strategist: Work in synergy with senior leadership and medical staff to identify and prioritize organizational needs, including clinical program support and capital requirements.
  • Mission-Driven Leader: Embody and champion our mission, core values, and the Providence promise, leading by example through language and action every day.


What You'll Bring:



  • Educational Foundation: A Bachelor's Degree is required; a Master's Degree is preferred to fortify your strategic insights.
  • Seasoned Expertise: At least 5 years of senior-level leadership experience in fund development programs, with a preference for a background in healthcare or education philanthropy.
  • Philanthropic Acumen: Extensive knowledge of fundraising strategies, including capital campaigns, major gifts, and grant proposal development. A keen understanding of philanthropic trends and their implications.
  • Strategic Communication: Exceptional skills in articulating a strategic vision and communicating it effectively to diverse audiences including the Board, staff, community, and hospital leadership.
  • Interpersonal Excellence: Advanced interpersonal skills that enable you to engage persuasively with influential internal and external contacts, garnering support for our operations.
  • Decisive Problem Solver: A proactive leader who involves others in decision-making yet ensures timely and effective outcomes.
  • Values Ambassador: Ability to articulate and demonstrate our Mission, Vision, and Core Values, building trust and credibility as a reliable and respected leader.
