About the Job

This is a post-doctoral associate research position in the Spencer laboratory at the University of Minnesota. The lab is looking for a postdoctoral fellow to lead studies examining the neurobiology of cocaine and cannabinoid addiction using rodent intravenous self-administration with the potential to spearhead the initiation of a vapor self-administration model. The primary responsibilities of this position are related to the implementation and design of research and data acquisition, analysis, and management. The successful applicant would also be expected to train others in relevant methods, provide mentorship for students, and contribute to the general function of the lab (chores, organization, and maintenance). The applicant will also be encouraged to take advantage of career and professional development opportunities offered by UMN.

This hire is necessary to fulfill the research obligations of the lab to generate data for a funded extramural NIDA R21 and an internal pilot grant awarded as part of a larger NIDA P30 Center designed to generate preliminary data for another extramural application. There is an urgent need to accelerate data acquisition in the immediate term given the time constraints of these awards.
