About the Job

Duties/Responsibilities:
80% Record keeping and administrative/operational related activities including -
* Provide leadership and direction to other lab staff regarding lab research, procedures and protocols plus new lab member orientation, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed; access to lab is granted, etc. Serve as the lab safety Officer.
* Maintain records of data per protocol requirements and submit protocols to IACUC, IBC & IRB
* Attend lab meetings for all labs
* Contribute to writing/editing manuscripts and journal articles for publication
* Troubleshoot lab and technology issues
* Order lab supplies including lab animals by coordinating orders with the CNC
* Maintain our IACUC/IBC protocols and coordinate our IACUC inspections
* Work with our pre-grant team to generate budgets and attend lab finance meetings and review finances with the PIs
* Monitor and maintain liquid nitrogen levels in LN2 dewars for cell cryopreservation.

10% Immunostaining testing/procedures including - only when assistance is needed due to lab illness or other issues
* Collect cryosection of tissue samples
* Perform immunohistological staining
* Analyze tissue using microscopy and other techniques

10% In vivo animal modeling responsibilities including -
* Assist with elements of all animal surgeries only when extra hands are needed
* Deliver functional testing only when extra hands are needed
* Keeping track of animals and interfacing and maintaining compliance with Research Animal Resources would be a primary responsibility

*This position may require occasional weekend animal checks, and this job would entail maintaining a call schedule for the animals so that there would always be someone in on the weekends primarily responsible for the animals.

Qualifications

All required qualifications must be documented on application materials

Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree in science and two years related experience or a combination of education and work experience to equal six years
* Previous experience in lab management

Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with IACUC, IBC, and IRB protocol submissions, ordering laboratory supplies and animals, and managing laboratory budgets.
* Familiarity with using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpint.
