On Deck Coordinator for Minnetonka Aquatics

Starting Pay is $17 per hour depending on experience and certifications.

Primary Objective of Position:

To empower every participant with the skills, knowledge, and confidence in their swimming ability to maintain a lifelong commitment to safety, wellness, and enjoyment in the water.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Observe Swim Instructors and provide performance checklist to Recreational Programs Coordinator of Aquatics.
2. Communicate with parents regarding lesson program.
3. Teach swimming lessons following Minnetonka Aquatics Learn-to-Swim skills progression to children and adults.
4. Help swimmers of all ages and abilities and help develop their water safety, survival, and swimming skills.
5. Ensure a safe and positive environment for all participants.
6. Greet visitors and provide information on beach or pool facilities and other Minnetonka Aquatics programs.
7. Enforce pool policies, rules and regulations.
8. Recognize and respond effectively in emergencies.
9. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Job Qualifications:

1. Previous experience as Swim Instructor or Coach.
2. Evidence of experience working with children.
3. Demonstrated ability to be comfortable and confident with teaching swimming lessons.
4. Demonstrated leadership and public relations skills
5. Evidence of positive interpersonal skills; ability to relate to both children and adults.
6. Ability to work under minimal supervision.
7. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
8. Proven record of punctuality and responsibility.
9. Strong communication skills and positive interpersonal skills (relates well to children and adults) as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
