POSITION SUMMARY :

Sugarbush Health and Recreation Club is seeking individuals with a passion for swimming and teaching. Swim instructors are responsible for creating and providing safe quality swim lessons. Lessons may be group or private and must include a learning progression for each swim student. Swim instructor should be energetic, professional, and able to withstand extended time in the pool. A knowledge of, and competent ability to perform and demonstrate basic swim strokes is required. This job is part time with flex hours year-round.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to maintain a fun and safe learning environment for swim students.
  • Creating and providing swim lessons catered to students' ability and personal goals.
  • A strong knowledge of water safety.
  • Ability to organize and provide group lessons for students of varied abilities and ages.
  • Must be empathetic and understanding of student fears and differences in pace of learning.
  • Proper set up and clean up/break down of swim instruction area is required.
  • Awareness of surroundings and consideration of other pool guests during swim instruction.
  • Co-ordinate with other swim instructors to keep the program operating with the same standards, qualifications, and swim levels for students.
  • Interact with students, their families, and other guests in a friendly, polite manner.
  • Report any issues/concerns with equipment, props, pool conditions, water clarity to front desk or maintenance staff asap.
  • Possible weekend and evening work.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Instruction/Teaching experience.
  • First aid and CPR.
  • Requires ability to be outside or in the pool for extended periods of time.
  • Applicants should be in good physical condition and have proper professional swim wear.
  • Interview process may require time in pool performing a class scenario.
  • Safe Sport Training to be completed during orientation.
