Job Summary:

The Pharmacy Technician is a staff member who works under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist, Physician or Surgeon, Mid-level Provider, or other authorized healthcare professional and performs many pharmacy-related functions. Pharmacy technicians assist the pharmacists in participating and developing extended clinical pharmacy roles, such as independent prescribing by site Medical Directors and other licensed staff. A key role is ensuring the security of prescription drugs and pharmaceuticals and control of the pharmacy inventory.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Job duties include dispensing prescription drugs and other healthcare products to patients.
  • All Health Care Providers (HCPs) will document care delivered and follow-up care required.
  • Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve quality and outcomes, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain a specific level of knowledge about new developments, new task efforts, and new policy requirements.
  • Assists with the managing of day-to-day activities and prioritizing tasks.
  • Operates personal computer to access e-mail, electronic calendars, and other basic office support software.
  • Complies with all applicable Acuity standards and guidelines.
  • Maintains the highest regard for patient dignity and observes the precepts of the American Hospital Association Bill of Rights for patients.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Three years' experience as a Pharmacy Technician is required.
  • Must have completed a formal Pharmacy Technician training program leading to a diploma, certificate, or associate's degree. This license shall be current (not revoked, suspended, or lapsed in registration), valid (the issuing authority accepts and considers QA information (i.e. practitioner professional performance and conduct in determining continued licenses)), and unrestricted (not subject to restriction about the scope, location, or type of practice ordinarily granted to other applicants for similar licenses in granting jurisdiction).
  • Participate in training, (including HIPAA training)
  • Have and maintain current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • Must be current in all required certifications.
  • Requires a favorable security background check and drug screen.
  • All healthcare providers must have current clinical experience in direct patient care and have worked a minimum of 6 of the last 12 months in a desired career field.
  • Must have a valid, current U.S. Driver's License.
  • Must have a valid U.S. Passport with no less than 6 months remaining before expiration.
  • Shall be proficient in the ability to speak, write, and communicate in English.
  • Requires a favorably adjudicated CNACI investigation conducted by the Department of Defense.
  • Must sign an International Assignment Agreement (IAA) and is bound to the terms and conditions of the IAA.

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions:

  • Must be confirmed by a medical examination to be "medically and dentally fit" in accordance with Acuity Medical Readiness Guidelines and Policies and/or as directed by the Client.
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment; travel to Kwajalein is required by air.
