About the Position
As our Defender Law Clerk you will be responsible for researching legal and other issues, providing findings to attorneys, preparing legal documents and assisting attorneys at legal proceedings.

We Require
Job Contributions
Perform legal and other research, analysis and/or writing and provides findings to attorneys Review case law, statutes, articles, and treatises Draft legal memoranda or motions for defender attorneys Assist defender attorneys at legal proceedings including arraignments, evidentiary hearings, and trials Attend legal seminars and workshops on- and off-site
Working Conditions
Work occurs primarily in an indoor office or court environment working in close physical proximity with others and public contact Position handles traumatic subject matter including crime scenes, accidents, etc. and is subject to interruptions, time pressure, high volumes of work, handling multiple or complicated tasks, unscheduled tasks, frequently changing tasks, accuracy, decision making, concentration, vigilance, teamwork Ability to travel to and from job related locations during the course of a scheduled workday, subject to County policies regarding the use of County vehicles and/or private vehicles used on County business. Valid Arizona driver's license is required upon hire Ability to lift 15-25 pounds from floor to waist; 15 pounds waist to shoulder or shoulder to overhead; carry 15-25 pounds a distance of 100 feet or push/pull 100 pounds a distance of 100 feet
