Job Description
TDSHS AMT/PM LICENSE IS REQUIRED

Terracon's DFW Metro Asbestos, Lead & IH Department is hiring hard-working, career-minded individuals for the position of Asbestos Air Monitoring Technician in our rapidly growing hazardous materials consulting practice.

Positions are available in both our Dallas and Fort Worth office locations. Starting salary of $21.00-$25.00 per hour commensurate with experience.

This position offers a professional growth opportunity in a fast-paced work environment with the nation's #1-ranked asbestos design firm. A current Texas Department of State Health Services Asbestos Air Monitoring Technician/Project Monitor license is required to be considered for this position.

The ideal candidate possesses strong organizational skills a high sense of personal accountability. Asbestos Technicians report directly to the Asbestos Department Manager and are responsible for providing air monitoring services and project oversight on asbestos abatement projects and other sampling/monitoring projects. Training as an asbestos inspector will be provided.

General Responsibilities:
  • Perform asbestos abatement air monitoring and project management.
  • Perform tests and sampling of environmental materials including, but not limited to, air, building materials, and noise.
  • Operate field monitoring equipment.
  • Tabulate and prepare data and project logs for written reports.
  • Clean and maintain field monitoring equipment.
  • Adhere to strict QA/QC standards.
  • Adhere to strict safety standards.
  • Assist with asbestos, lead paint, and mold surveys and other sampling/monitoring projects, as qualified.
  • Transport material samples or documents to the lab for further testing and analysis.

TDSHS AMT/PM LICENSE IS REQUIRED

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Performs standardized and sometimes complex field tests as directed and/or special inspections as required.
  • Calibrate field monitoring equipment such as high- and low-volume sampling pumps.
  • Perform oversight and air monitoring during asbestos abatement projects in accordance with AHERA, TDSHS and OSHA guidelines
  • Assist with asbestos surveys and other sampling/monitoring projects in accordance with applicable regulatory guidelines.
  • Assist senior technicians and project managers with complex project tasks.
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.

Requirements:
  • TDSHS AMT or AMT/PM license is REQUIRED.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • TDSHS Asbestos Inspector license is PREFERRED.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
  • Reliable transportation to project sites is required.
  • This position requires the employee to work flexible hours and occasional weekends. Occasional overnight travel and out-of-town mobilization of up to 3 weeks may also be required.
  • The employee must be able to lift-and-carry for short distances up to 50 pounds and assist in team lift-and-carry for short distances up to 100 pounds.
  • This position requires the employee to work in humid, hot and cold conditions as well as work at heights and in close spaces.
  • This position requires frequent ladder use, including the use of 24' extension ladders.
  • This position requires manual dexterity with both hands and ability to operate a microscope using both eyes.
