JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Statistics and the CAUSE Program (Consortium for the Advancement of Undergraduate Statistics Education) are seeking an Administrative Assistant - Intermediate Support.

Duties for the department include:

  • Coordinating colloquium arrangements including announcements, itineraries, room set up, refreshments and travel arrangements for the speakers.

  • Provide facilities support: assist with reporting maintenance issues; maintain office supply inventory.

  • Assist with office mail distribution.

  • Greet visitors and provide information, as well as review, respond to, and direct inquiries.

  • Support and coordinate special events, including reserving spaces, developing itineraries, preparing materials, coordinating work between teams, and serving as point of contact with vendors.

  • Serve on various department and college committees.

  • Assist with coordinating faculty candidate visits.

  • May work with Risk Management on various agreements for events.

  • May provide backup to the undergraduate program.

  • Assist the Director of the Statistical Consulting Center (SCC).

  • Process invoices.

This person will be responsible for managing all aspects of hosting face-to-face and virtual conferences and workshops for the CAUSE program including coordination with faculty and sponsors in preparation for conferences/workshops, schedule facilities, prepare and distribute announcements, arrange travel itineraries. In addition, this person will handle all fiscal administration and record keeping associated with the CAUSE Program.

This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

Education and Experience:

This position requires a High School Diploma/GED or Vocational Training/Degree and 2 or more years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of Microsoft word and excel required. Must possess excellent communication skills, be able to work independently and be self-motivated.

Knowledge of SIMBA and Penn State travel and financial policies is preferred. Familiarity with LionPath, Cvent, 25Live and Adobe Suite software is preferred.

This is a limited-term position funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of reappointment.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$38,300.00 - $55,500.00
