JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

As the locus for all the University's global engagements, Penn State Global is an area of opportunity for those seeking a career in the field of international education. Pre-Arrival Advising, a unit of International Student and Scholar Advising, seeks a staff assistant for office duties and communication.

Requirements for the job:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based application.
  • Adherence to confidentiality of student documents a must.
  • Knowledge of immigration regulations preferred.
  • Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to convey clear information to diverse and international populations required.

The position's duties include support to four staff members, management of electronic communications, attendance at office meetings, electronic filing, and other duties as assigned. Pre-Arrival Advising is located at Innovation Park on the University Park Campus. This part-time hourly position requires availability up to 20 hours per week from May to August.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
