Business Development Manager
POSITION SUMMARY:
- Assist with the growth of the company with specific focus on the New England region
- Facilitate and manage the business development strategy development for New England Region
- Develop new business opportunities for the company with a focus on the New England region
- Leverage existing network to mine for opportunities in our markets; higher education, medical office buildings, healthcare. Some public sector experience is a plus.
- Additionally, develop new relationships in our markets.
- Maintain and foster good client relationships
- Have an in-depth understanding of the markets we support including key individuals working for our clients
- Have an understanding of the type of work we perform including design build, self-perform construction, general contracting and construction management
- Knowledge of the terms & conditions normal to our business including various commercial models.
- Adherence to Corporate Environmental, Health, and Safety Policies and Best-Practices in the deployment of all work related activities;
- Initiate continuous improvement objectives and embrace technology enhancements;
- Participation in lessons learned sessions, operational development initiatives, and best practice training to support a continuous improvement working philosophy.
- Promote, foster and maintain open communication among all team members, management, consultants, inspectors, applicable agencies, and the supporting subcontractors and trade participants;
- Potentially act as an interim Project Manager, if necessary, for key project assignments until the project team is assigned
Business Development/Leadership
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT:
- Use knowledge of the local market in the industry sectors A/Z supports to find, pursue and win business
- Based on the business development strategy, develop and execute a tactical plan for sales.
- Have the ability to reach out to key individuals in the market place and schedule audiences with our clients
- Lead other business development activities of the Corporation including preconstruction, tactical approaches with project delivery, ensuring a customer-centric focus, client interaction, and presentation assistance
- Develop and maintain relationships with the architectural and engineering firms that supports our market
- Maintain a knowledge of the local contracting and labor market, monitoring market influences
- Participate in industry forums or groups in order to promote our company in the marketplace
- Provide a pro-active and positive Client interface throughout the delivery of services;
- Have an understanding of conceptual and quantitative project estimates, reviewing those estimates and providing feedback on pricing;
- Mentor project managers in the management of client relationships
- Assist our seller-doers in honing their sales skills, understanding contracts and commercials.
- Manage the bid documents development process working with our marketing group to create a world-class proposal.
- Evaluate client /project specific requirements and concerns including site protocols, safety requirements, logistics and other influences that may affect the project
- Mentor others in the ability to both sell and buyout the project upon award.
- Lead the transition from proposal to execution including any strategies used to construct, contract and/or buy-out
- Facilitate and participate in reviews with project team members providing insight and support of project proposals;
- Work with and assist with, if necessary, project finance management for all applicable project commitments, contract changes, and claim resolution.
