Cardiac Surgery Clinical Outcomes Specialist Job Responsibilities:



  • The Cardiac Surgery Outcomes Specialist works with the entire cardiac surgery team to oversee and report on quality and outcomes for cardiac surgery patients.
  • Oversees the data submitted to the STS registry to ensure an accurate abstraction and timely submission process
  • Presents on cardiac surgery outcomes at regular intervals
  • Participates in developing, implementing, and tracking quality and process improvement initiatives
  • Participates in research initiatives
  • Collaborates with both clinical and administrative team members to develop processes to maximize cardiac surgery capacity and optimize outcomes and ensure data is tracked and reported to internal and external registries
  • Facilitates case reviews and share outcomes with the various groups caring for cardiac surgery patients
  • Interacts routinely and effectively with the clinical team to develop a collaborative plan for the coordination of patient care from hospitalization through discharge.
  • Establishes relationships/clinical pathways with providers/agencies to optimize care for defined patient population.


Cardiac Surgery Clinical Outcomes Specialist Additional Requirements:



  • Work schedule: Monday - Friday Day Shift
  • Education: BSN, or graduate of an accredited school of Cardiovascular Technology or Radiology Technology
  • Licensure: Registered Nurse License in the Commonwealth of Virginia upon hire; for non-RNs, must be registered in one of the following: RCIS, RCES, RTRCV, or RTRVI upon hire
  • Certification: None Required
  • Experience: 3 years of experience in a clinical setting
