POSITION SUMMARY: As a BMC Radiologic Technologist, you will perform vital X-ray imaging for all trauma, inpatients and outpatients. These images will assist our providers to accurately diagnose and care for our patients. You will gain a wide range of experience using cutting-edge technology, while working collaboratively with other department staff and our own Radiology Team to help further BMC's mission of providing exceptional care for all. Position: Radiology Technologist II Department: Diagnostic Radiology Schedule: Part Time ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES: Diagnostic Imaging
- Perform appropriate studies in a timely manner, using proper positioning, technique and exposure factors as necessary and required, with a goal to use the lowest dose possible
- Set up equipment, provide quality radiographs for radiologists and other colleagues, and perform other duties as requested by the X-ray Lead, Supervisor, Manager, and Radiology Director
- Perform exams on patients of all ages as required in all areas that Diagnostic Radiology is located and needed
- Ensures best turnaround time for all ordered exams to reduce delays in care
- Exams to be performed as determined through our established routine protocols. Ensuring that exams ordered match the reason for exam and patient presentation, condition and history.
Patient Care and Safety
- Prepare patients for exams, ensuring their safety, comfort, and modesty at all times
- Always checking patient identifiers to validate correct patient name, DOB, MRN, correct exam and laterality ordered, every time
- Monitor each patient's condition during exams, taking appropriate action when assistance is needed
- Follow established hospital infection control and safety procedures and use AIDET communication framework
Administrative
- Document exams properly in Radiology Information System and PACS to ensure all details and required information are included
- Maintain professionalism with in-person interactions and also conduct proper phone etiquette with all staff, c0-workers, visitors and patients
- Maintain licensure, certifications, CEUs and annual mandatory compliances
- Mentor and assist Rad Tech I's when needed
JOB REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION:
- Completion of two years post-high school training in an approved school of radiologic technology
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
- Current Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist License, ARRT Certification and Registration, or a Temporary Massachusetts Rad Tech License (must pass the national ARRT registry exam within one year and then apply for and receive permanent Massachusetts licensure within the one year)
- Current BLS/CPR Certification
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Knowledge of the principles and procedures of diagnostic radiology practices and the operation of radiologic equipment
- Two years of Radiologic Technology work experience required, in a hospital setting preferred
- Excellent communication skills and initiative
- Maintain all Continuing Education Units
