The general pay scale for this position at MOH is $65,877 - $88,992 per year. The actual hiring rate is dependent on many factors, including but not limited to prior work experience, education, job/position responsibilities, location, work performance, etc. SCOPE: Under general supervision, coordinates the month-end close for assigned oncology practices including financial reporting. Performs general accounting functions and prepares reports as required. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: -Maintains general ledger, including preparing financial schedules, writing journal entries, and reconciling accounts. Maintains cash schedules, inspects account status. -Processes monthly close of all oncology practices and management companies in an accurate and timely manner. Ensures accruals are appropriately made each month. Reviews G/L coding on invoices before checks are released to ensure accurate coding and alignment with oncology-specific services and supplies. -Collaborates with Controller and oncology practice management to obtain all necessary information and explanations. Ensures compliance with Management Services Agreements (MSAs) and healthcare regulations, including those specific to oncology (e.g., chemotherapy drug billing, infusion services). -Ensures accurate accounting for new oncology practices, including opening balance sheets, subsequent adjustments, and MSA compliance. -Reconciles all balance sheet accounts monthly with valid supporting documentation. Reviews monthly reporting packages for accuracy, reasonableness, and completeness, with attention to oncology-specific metrics such as drug inventory, infusion revenue, and payer mix. -Ensures timely submission of reporting packages to Controller. Responds to inquiries promptly and meets corporate reporting deadlines. -Provides oncology-specific financial reporting as requested by Controller. Maintains and updates fixed asset records, including depreciation schedules for medical equipment (e.g., infusion chairs, radiation machines). Assists in implementing new fixed asset systems. -Supports the annual budgeting process for oncology practices, including forecasting for high-cost medications and treatment services. -Maintains working knowledge of applicable healthcare laws and oncology-specific regulations (e.g., CMS guidelines, 340B drug pricing program, HIPAA). -Maintains confidentiality of all information related to patients, medical staff, finances, and cost-effective oncology care delivery. -May oversee functions of Staff Accountants or Accounting Specialists/support staff.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: -Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business field required. -Minimum 2-5 years of fiscal management experience, preferably in a healthcare or oncology practice setting. -Strong understanding of healthcare accounting principles, with specific knowledge of oncology billing, coding, and reimbursement models (e.g., Medicare Part B, infusion billing). -Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and oncology practice management systems (e.g., OncoEMR, ARIA, Epic Beacon). -CPA preferred. -Experience with budgeting and financial analysis in a clinical setting. -Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. -Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.
