The University of Missouri (MU) seeks applications and nominations for outstanding faculty candidates with a research emphasis in the biomedical and health fields of science. This recruitment is part of MizzouForward, the most important strategic investment to achieve research excellence and student success in the history of the university. This initiative will leverage existing institutional strengths and address national biomedical and health-related scientific priority areas through innovation and collaboration. Successful candidates will have outstanding, competitive, externally funded research programs in any area of biomedical or precision health including, but not limited to, Translation/Implementation Science, Cardiometabolic Health, Cancer & Immunology, Autism Spectrum Disorders/Neurodiversity, Health in Population Systems across Species, Food as Health across Species as well as Large Animal Model Biomedical Research. Positions are available in all units across campus and joint appointments between multiple departments are possible. Incoming faculty will have access to a wide array of state-of-the-art facilities and resources such as the Bond Life Science Center, the Thompson Center for Autism and Neurodevelopment, and the Roy Blunt NextGen Precision Health building housing an electron microscopy core facility. The University of Missouri is also home to a 10 MW research reactor (MURR) operated by the institution, that provides access to radioisotopes and radiochemicals. MU also houses two NIH funded swine centers (National Swine Resource and Research Center and Swine Somatic Genome Editing Center) as well as the NIH funded Mutant Mouse and Rat Resource & Research Centers, the LIDR Regional Biocontainment Laboratory, and state-of-the-art campus supported core facilities, such as the Animal Modeling Core, the Bioinformatics and Analytics Core, the Cell & Immunobiology Core, the Cognitive Neuroscience Systems Core, the Charles W. Gehrke Proteomics Center, the Genomics Technology Core, the Metabolomics Center, the Molecular Interactions Core, the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Core, and various PET Imaging Centers. Another major resource aligned with this strategic hiring initiative is the University of Missouri Institute for Data Science and Informatics (MUIDSI), as well as a high-power computing and storage data ecosystem, the Hellbender. Minimum Qualification * An earned terminal degree in a related discipline Candidates will be evaluated on the following factors * Track record of external research funding, particularly from federal agencies * Research portfolio and accomplishments (e.g., publication record, number of citations) * National awards and honors, membership with national academies * Interdisciplinary orientation of their work Application We are currently not reviewing applications for this area.
