Purpose of Position
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Student Engagement and Inclusiveness, the Director of the Latino Student Initiatives ( LSI) will provide administrative leadership for all aspects of the design and implementation of services and programs that promote the success and retention of Latino/a/x students.

The director will serve as a campus resource and internal expert on Latino/a/x related issues, will lead community building and outreach activities to support the recruitment, sense of belonging, career readiness, leadership development, and academic success for Latino/a/x students.

This role will supervise cultural programming for the campus community, as well as intensive academic, skill-building and social programming for Latino/a/x students including mentoring, academic advising, tutoring, scholarship tracking, and early academic intervention by administering the Latino Mentor Program ( LAMP).

It will also oversee the early move-in program, for Latino/a/x students, and work with academic departments and other campus partners to provide advising and support services to students through a coordinated care model.
Primary Responsibilities

  • Supervise staff and initiatives providing mentoring, advising, early academic intervention, tutoring, skill-building, and cultural, educational and social programming in efforts to promote the retention, recruitment, sense of belonging, and graduation of Latino/a/x students as well as all NKU students

  • Construct learning outcomes and assessment measures for educational programs, and evaluate and implement a model which meets the needs of Latino/a/x students, focusing on student success and identity development

  • Maintain records and databases, and generate strategic institutional, divisional and departmental institutional reports on Latino/a/x students, including annual reports, assessments, and databases

  • Engage with students, faculty, staff and alumni on all issues related to Latino/a/x students, and create networking and mentorship opportunities between students, staff and faculty.

  • Represents Latino/a/x services and resources on campus and participate in campus- wide initiatives and strategic planning

  • Develop programs and initiatives designed to expand the understanding of Hispanic/Latino/a/x culture, customs and traditions for all students

  • Provides one-on-one advising to students; refers students to appropriate resources on and off campus through a coordinated care model.

  • Work in close collaboration with other units in the Center for Student Inclusiveness to promote advocacy and inclusivity regarding broad issues of campus diversity

  • Supervise the design and implementation of an orientation for Latino/a/x freshman and the Latino Mentor Program (LAMP)

  • Creates and maintains relationships with local and regional Latino/a/x organizations, supportive agencies, and community partnerships to create a wide support for Latino student success

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree with a minimum of 3 years experience

  • Must be fluent in Spanish and English

  • Experience with the design and implementation of services and programs that promote the success and retention of Latino/a/x students

  • Budget management experience

  • Experience with reporting and assessments
