The Director of Oncology Infusion and Investigational Drug Services is under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy Enterprise, Acute Care and Infusion. This is a new leadership position for UVA Health to support the current and future growth of oncology, infusion and investigational drug services. This leader supports the objective of delivering safe, cost-effective and optimal medication therapy. They are responsible for overseeing pharmacy managers of oncology and infusion pharmacy teams, pharmacy infusion processes and strategy, IDS pharmacists, committees and other interdisciplinary groups involving pharmacy. They will collaborate with the acute care and infusion pharmacy leadership team, service line leadership, nursing, and medical leadership in support of optimal patient care. The director will coordinate all oncology and infusion pharmacy services and programs. This position oversees pharmacy oncology clinical operations across the inpatient oncology units of UVA University Hospital, UVA ambulatory oncology and non-oncology infusion centers, and advancing investigational drug program development. This position supports the education mission of UVA by precepting pharmacy residents and students. Roles and Responsibilities oDirector will be responsible for creating the vision and direction for pharmacy oncology and infusion areas and facilitating pursuit of best practices oSkills required for this role include leadership through influence, prioritization, pharmacy management expertise, leading process changes, implementing strategies improve safety, and facilitating a culture of safety in partnership with department of pharmacy leaders oDemonstrates the highest level of professionalism in all activities, as measured by a concern for patient care, the ability to listen and cooperate, demonstrating flexibility, the ability to help others within and across departments and teams, and the ability to set and achieve goals oOversight of ambulatory infusion pharmacy practice at UVA for oncology and non-oncology infusion centers oDevelops goals, objectives, measures policies and procedures for areas of oversight oResponsible for facilitating compliance with local, state, federal, and organizational requirements, and coordinating accreditation/inspection readiness activities in partnership with department of pharmacy leaders oCollaborates with all levels of health care professionals to provide safe and effective care oDevelops and leads proactive implementation of best practices, technology, and automation to support pharmacy clinical operations oCollaborate with key service line leaders to support University Hospital oParticipates in the development of policies and procedures related to pharmacy operations, applicable pharmacy accreditation standards and compliance with federal and state rules and regulations oDevelops talent and coaches peers and others to develop their capabilities oHolds staff accountable for meeting external and/or internal customer's needs. oIn addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned Provides effective leadership to team/ work group Models effective communication and collaboration skills / behaviors. Position Compensation Range: $141,169.60 - $225,867.20 Annual MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Pharmacy degree required (Masters and/or Pharm.D.) from an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy. Master's degree must be obtained within 4 years of hire or transfer. Experience: Minimum 3 years progressive experience in pharmacy practice and pharmacy management. Specialized residency training in pharmacy administration will be considered in lieu of experience. Licensure: Licensed to practice as a Pharmacist in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
