The University of Virginia Intramural-Recreational Sports Department is currently seeking Outdoor Adventure Instructors to teach activities such as kayaking, rock climbing, anchor workshops, and hiking. Most programs run from 2 hour clinics, to full day trips. Previous outdoor experience is required. Applicants must be at least 21+ years old. Instructor certifications for leading kayaking and/or climbing programs are preferred. CPR/First Aid/Wilderness First Aid certifications are also preferred. This is a wage position which is not eligible for leave or other benefits and is limited to 1500 hours of work in a year. Position Compensation Range: $14.00 - $18.00 Hourly MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Bachelor's degree preferred but not required Experience: Some- up to 4 years Preferred License or Certification: Virginia Drivers License; CPR/First Aid/Wilderness First Aid; Instructor certifications such as through ACA for paddling, and AMGA/PCIA/PCGI for climbing. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of outdoor recreation activities to be taught. Strong communication skills, written and verbal. Ability to engage students and staff in a professional manner.
