Pay Rate/Range: The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $90,000/year. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University. The full salary range for this position is $69,500 to $123,500/year.

Brief Summary of Job Duties:

Under the direction of the Director of Training, utilizes wide-ranging experience and subject matter expertise in the learning and development field to design,deliver, evaluate, and manage training offerings provided through the Office of Financial Training for a campus wide audience including staff and faculty. Training programs include, but are not limited to, the Core Financial Principles program designed to increase financial literacy skills across all financial roles, business process and policy training, and module-specific training developed for Oracle Financials Cloud. Demonstrates ongoing, proactive, and strategic responsibility for specific training programs and initiatives. Collaborates with the Director of Training and other colleagues to leverage workplace learning and performance strategies to achieve successful organizational outcomes. Uses expertise and in-depth understanding of adult learning best practices to determine appropriate training methodologies and approaches for new training initiatives. Provides subject matter expertise and a depth of experience in all Office of Financial Training programs and workshops. Supports the growth and development of the Office of Financial Training as it continues to scale.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • 1-3 years Delivering training in a variety of modalities (in-person, virtual, hybrid, blended, e-learning, microlearning, etc.) to audiences with different skill sets and knowledge.
  • 1-3 years Delivering training to both small (approx 30 participants) and large (100+) audiences.
  • 4-6 years Project management - seeing a project through from beginning to end, tracking deadlines, managing diverse stakeholders, delivering a final product on time
  • Thorough knowledge of current training programs and industry trends.
  • Strong analytical skills to conduct needs assessment and development of new training courses to meet organizational needs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills with relevant business software systems; i.e., G-Suite, Microsoft Office
  • Strong skills in planning, resourcing and monitoring effective delivery of training.
  • Thorough knowledge of applying adult learning theories and education methodologies.
  • Thorough knowledge of training and development, performance management and workplace learning. Ability to apply knowledge to achieve successful organizational outcomes.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to bring diverse stakeholders with competing priorities together to accomplish a common goal.
  • Ability to create, analyze and explain actionable data insights drawn from people metrics.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years Working with Learning Management Systems (LMS), including serving as an administrator or as a contributor.
  • 1-3 years Working with a variety of training technologies such as Camtasia, Snag-It, Articulate, and/or other systems utilized both to develop training materials and to use while delivering training, such as Kahoot, iClicker, and Poll Everywhere.
  • 4-6 years Experience utilizing several UCSB campus financial systems, such as the Online General Ledger, Gateway, Transfer of Expense, Transfer of Funds, etc

Job Functions and Percentages of Time:

35% Training Development

  • Identifies and analyzes training and development needs based on audience and skill sets.
  • Works closely with leadership to identify areas of deficiency and assist in developing training to improve competency, continuing education and process improvement.
  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for delivering training programs that are appropriate to the audience, topic, and overall learning goals.
  • Partners with Training Team and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop, produce, and maintain quality course materials (including design documents, outlines, course descriptions, presentation slides, diagrams, lab exercises, instructor guides, lab setup guides, job aids, assessments).
  • Assumes responsibility for specific training programs and initiatives as needed.
  • Serves as a content creation expert for WhatFix, the digital adoption tool used by the Office of Financial Training for Concur, Oracle Financials Cloud, and potentially other financial campus applications.
  • Continuously update and improve training programs based on industry trends, evaluation data, and direct feedback from participants.
  • Adheres to University branding guidelines for all training deliverables.

25% Training Delivery

  • Delivers learning and development programs aligned with organization strategies.
  • Applies adult learning theory to optimize learner engagement in both synchronous and asynchronous environments.
  • Facilitates in person, virtual, and hybrid trainings.
  • Delivers asynchronous e-learning, as well as other on demand training tools and job aids.

30% Training Coordination and Knowledge Management

  • Manages communication on behalf of the Office of Financial Training using Emma, an email marketing solution. This includes creating and sending training advertisements, reminders, and materials to participants following a coordinated schedule, and may include managing an ongoing newsletter.
  • Administers the campus Learning Management System (LMS) on behalf of the Office of Financial Training. This includes publishing courses, managing registration and attendance, troubleshooting issues with end users, and pulling report data for analysis.
  • Manages physical training logistics including room reservations, participant materials, and equipment.
  • Independently responds to training requests, assesses need for customization, and schedules upcoming sessions through the online master training calendar.
  • Oversees the creation and maintenance of training folders, supplies, handouts, advertisements and marketing materials.
  • Researches relevant campus and system-wide policies and procedures to ensure current versions are circulated in training materials.
  • Designs and executes innovative outreach strategies to expand training programs to new campus audiences and/or target specific populations to increase training attendance.
  • Ensures that training materials are kept up to date, and works with key stakeholders on a regular basis to maintain the accuracy and relevance of materials. This may involve contributing to and maintaining a knowledge management system such as ServiceNow or Confluence.
  • Manages the email inbox for the Office of Financial Training. This includes providing timely and professional responses and a "customer-first" approach to serving those who reach out to us for help.

10% Training Assessment

  • Evaluates training effectiveness by assessing application of learning to job performance.
  • Leverages evaluation data to recommend future training and development programs and continuously iterate to build the best content to meet learner needs and achieve organizational outcomes.
  • Assists in the evaluation and optimization of training systems and procedures.
  • Assess the effectiveness of training delivered and create action plans to improve performance.
