- Syracuse, NY
- Monday - Friday
- Frequent regional travel (up to 75% of work time).
- Minimal overnight travel (<25%)

The Construction Sales Specialist is responsible for developing and executing specific sales and marketing plans to procure contracts to supply construction contractors with consumables, equipment and services needed for commercial construction through direct sales efforts, and in collaboration with internal and external sales partners. This role will also act as the subject matter expert in the Area for our Safety/PPE category offering.
  • Increase sales and profit margins by presenting various products and services to new prospects and existing customers

  • Develop and implement customer specific training and marketing plans based on the products and services used in various construction trades

  • Travel throughout the assigned territory to explain and physically demonstrate products and services in both an office and construction site setting

  • Monitor competition by gathering marketplace information (i.e. new products, services, delivery models, market trends, etc.)

  • Act as a resource for other Airgas sales professionals in understanding and selling into the construction industry, including products, services and customer applications

  • Act as a resource for other Airgas sales professionals in developing and maintaining safety category sales within their territory

  • Actively promote the Airgas E-Commerce platform

  • Maintain required activity levels and results through Salesforce.com CRM system

  • Work closely with preferred vendors supporting the construction industry

  • Represent Airgas at key trade shows tailored to the construction industry

  • Other duties as assigned by management

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field. In lieu of degree, consideration for up to 4 years of additional sales specific experience may be considered

  • 3 years of prior outside sales experience preferably within the building construction industry

  • Qualified Safety Sales Professional (QSPP) certification preferred

  • Demonstrated relationship management & consultative selling aptitude

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to include the ability to multi-task and effectively manage projects in a diverse organization

  • Ability to build effective relationships with all levels and roles both within Airgas and outside the organization

  • Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines

  • Self-motivated with effective organizational/time-management skills

  • Requires frequent use of a computer, telephone and operation of a motor vehicle

  • Reliable transportation, current driver's license, minimum liability insurance as required by state of vehicle registration

  • Job requires visitation to various Airgas and customer sites, which have varying environments/conditions, layouts, and accessibility. Environment may contain loud noises and/or odors that may last for an extended period of time or on a continual basis

  • Must have the ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hard Hat, and Metatarsals.

  • Working knowledge of Google Suite of tools and CRM systems

  • Prior experience with SAP and Salesforce.com a plus

  • Pay Range: $80,000 - 90,000 + Commission Opportunities!
