Co-Op / High School Student - Carbide Group

Penn United Technologies, Inc. is now hiring for part-time Co-Op students to join our Carbide Grinding team for the 2024-2025 school year. We are looking for high school students who are currently enrolled and excelling in a Machine Technology high school vocational technical program and are seeking a challenging hands-on work experience to enhance their classroom learning. Our Co-op Program has a demonstrated history of developing students and growing their skills in their pursuit of a career in manufacturing.

Responsibilities:



  • Report to work on-time with a positive attitude and ready to learn and accomplish tasks.
  • Exhibit a true desire and focus toward your job.
  • Work on shop floor to enhance knowledge and skills necessary for a Machinist or other Journeyworker.
  • Meet trainer expectations on the shop floor.
  • Follow all safety and quality plans in accordance with company programs and policies.
  • Ask relevant questions and ask for help with processes or tasks not understood.
  • Communicate openly and honestly with trainer.
  • Cross train on all pertinent equipment.
  • Maintain clean work area and equipment.
  • Attend and participate in team meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties and assignments, as deemed necessary, to support the assigned team.


Qualifications

Qualifications:



  • Must be currently enrolled in a Machine Technology related program in high school or vocational technical school.
  • Must be in good academic standing and meet the school's eligibility requirements for Co-Op experience.
  • Excellent math & mechanical skills/aptitude; and the ability & desire to do precision work is required.
  • Basic knowledge of blueprint reading, precision measurement tools, and machining is expected.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and take notes.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to commit to regular attendance and solid performance on the job.
