PURPOSE OF THE JOB

This role is accountable for performing daily outbound transportation tasks and carrier related communications for the OC Lumber facility in Ocala, FL by creating solutions that are in the best interest of the customer and Owens Corning. The Logistics Lead will consolidate orders and assign daily freight to the Owens Corning carrier base to meet delivery dates of customer orders. The Logistics Lead is responsible for managing cost in support of outbound logistics through strategic management of freight. The Logistics Lead will collaborate with customer service and carriers and will support the warehouse and material planner to ensure constant flow of outbound shipments. This role will embrace and actively display the Owens Corning values, standards and purpose.

A successful candidate must have exceptional analytical skills and the initiative to take action within a fast-pace environment. They are capable in building partnerships with multiple functions and quickly understand the process flow from initiating product planning, logistics process, order entry process, and product on-time delivery.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Collaborate with Sr EHS Lead and EHS Technician on building a Plant safety strategy to align with company safety initiatives
  • Development, implementing, and executing safety initiatives to strive to meet safety measures including but not limited to incident/accident reporting procedures, safety plans on evacuations, first responders organization, risk assessments, monthly/quarter safety training, safety assessments, and primary/salaried ongoing training
  • Partnering with our People Leaders and Primary employees on best safety practices including coordinating and appropriate planning
  • Creating and overseeing routine safety and health strategies to meet end of year results
  • Manage through shipment data related to shipping cost, damages, or wrong shipments.
  • Consolidation of orders for OC customers in the most cost-effective manner.
  • Recognize and act on customer opportunities including serving as a liaison between customer service and plant to enhance customer experience.
  • Completes robust carrier reviews quarterly to manage performance to, and alignment with our service metrics, cost targets, and partnership goals.
  • Support OC Lumber plant activities to ensure timely loading Managing plant capacity based on load schedule to ensure efficiency of delivery schedules. Requires collaboration with plant planner and warehouse leader.
  • Leverage an understanding of all functions of an order leading to delivery to the customer including material planning and warehouse operations.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to resolve inventory/supply issues related to prevent gaps in customer fulfillment.
  • Drive decision making around individual business strategy to best support customer experience.
  • Be the voice of service and logistics with regards to capabilities, opportunities, and process knowledge. Enhance the customer experience by creating and implementing solutions to assists with customer relationships.
  • Monthly creation of a transportation cost forecast and reconciliation of the freight cost line of the financial statements, including inputs to modeling tools working with Plant Controller.
  • Support both Warehouse and Material Management activities when needed.
  • Responsible for maintaining current and new business contracts and fulfilling customer promise.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a Environmental & Safety role



PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:



  • Experience in strategically reviewing cost and network optimization through working with carriers
  • Exposure to large integrated software systems (ERP, MRP, SAP, TM)
  • Experience making high-impact decisions in fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with utilizing Computer programs and Microsoft Office Products
  • Analytical experience with Power Bi
